EVOLUTION, COGNITION, & CULTURE

The EC&C faculty shares an interest in human culture and cognition and a belief that evolutionary theory is a powerful tool to help both pose and answer very interesting questions about what it is to be human. We are curious about all the dimensions of our common humanity: our passions, our values, our awe of the sacred, our willingness to suffer to be accepted into a group, and our human tendencies to both cooperate and engage in violent conflict with members of our own group and with members of other groups. We welcome students who share these interests with us.
