| Welcome to Ecuador!
I am Pam Erickson, an Anthropologist at the University of Connecticut.
I’ve put together this virtual tour to give you an idea of the kinds of
places and experiences you will have if you take the course. This tour
loosely follows our itinerary. I suggest readings from the syllabus relevant
to different parts of the tour.
We begin our journey to the tropical
forest from Quito. At 9,348 feet above sea level, Quito still has a lovely
spring-like climate year round because of its proximity to the Equator.
Its colonial center is a world cultural heritage site – well worth visiting.
You will have two days in Quito at the end of the course to explore this
beautiful city.
