Howard Kress III
I am a Ph.D. student in medical anthropology here at the University of Connecticut. My main interests are in reproduction,  social networks, and indigenous medical knowledge. My experiences include working with how men react emotionally to a partner's abortion, the social network size of HIV positive people and the willingness of men to participate in a HIV vaccine trial. I have also presented a poster on American's judgements of national character. For dissertation research I am planning on testing different theories of the demographic transition as to their ability to accurately predict the observed fertility of the population. The planned research will take place in the town of Otavalo, Ecuador.

This picture was taken on the Pastaza River about an hour south of Banos, Ecuador.
