Undergraduate students at the University of Connecticut may pursue an Individualized Major in Native American Studies, which offers a wide range of courses related to topics in Native American history and culture. The Individualized Major provides students with the opportunity to explore their own specific interests in the area of Native American Studies with experienced faculty in Anthropology, History, Geography, Art History, English, Natural Resource Management, and other departments. Students' transcripts will indicate "Individualized Major: Native American Studies." A Native American Studies concentration includes at least 12 courses: the four required, plus three from the core, and the remainder from core, related, or other courses chosen in consultation with advisors.

Students must choose one of these faculty members as their major advisor. The remainder of the Individualized Major Advisory Committee can be composed of other faculty specializing in the student's interests.
