The Native American studies minor
fits squarely with the Universitys curricular emphasis on promoting
knowledge and appreciation of cultural diversity. Students will receive
in-depth exposure to a variety of lifeways that comprise the Native American
presence. They will come to appreciate native worldviews, ecology, arts
and literature, social relations, and the events and processes of history
that have helped shape their present diversity of cultures. They will come
to know Natives prehistoric past as well as their political and legal
statuses as a special category of American citizens. (A total of 18 credits
